Dear Pet Resort Customers,
As many of you may have heard in the news, there is concern that the Canine Influenza Virus is in the Austin area. At this time, we have not had any confirmed cases. However, we feel that it is in the best interest for all dogs coming into our boarding facility to be vaccinated against the Influenza Virus.
The vaccine is administered as a 2 booster series, with the second booster being given 3-4 weeks after the first booster. It is then given once a year on an annual basis. Unfortunately, being vaccinated does not guarantee your pet will not contract the virus. It does, however, lower the severity of the disease. The vaccine has proven to be very safe.
Effective November 1st 2011, we will be requiring all dogs entering the Great Oaks Pet Resort to have had this booster series. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you but once again it is for the safety of all pets concerned.
If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact myself or one of the other doctors at Great Oaks Animal Hospital, 512-518-4936.
Lisa Willis, D.V.M.
Great Oaks Pet Resort was a dream that Dr. Real F Ransom brought to life in 2003. His passion for pets and exceptional care are some of the core values that allow us to offer the absolute best boarding experience. We encourage you to come in for a tour of our wonderful facilities.
Our compassionate, knowledgeable and helpful team will greet you as you enter our two-story building. Our Silver suites are located on this floor. Six by four runs with cots that we fold down and cover with cozy bedding. Pets in our silver suites go out with our technicians three times daily.
Our elevator will take you upstairs to our Gold and Platinum suites. Pets lodging in these six by six or six by twelve suites will have the luxury of tiled floors, their own private windows and a comfy pet cot. They will go out with our technicians four times daily and will also have a thirty minute interactive time where they can play ball or just get their belly rubbed.
Warm weather give us the opportunity to get out the pools and sprinklers for those pet that like to play In the water. Be sure to let us know if your pet wants to have splash time!
