Rebecca McClannahan

Dr. McClannahan was born in Texas in a military hospital and spent the next several years moving with her family. She eventually settled in San Antonio and attended Texas A&M University. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in 1998 and the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002.  After graduation, she started her veterinary career in the Dallas areas and eventually moved to  Austin in 2009 with her boyfriend Glen. In 2010 she began with Great Oaks Animal Hospital as a relief veterinarian and became a part time associated in 2012. She enjoys getting to work with the staff at Great Oaks Animal Hospital including her former classmate Dr. Grimm. She lives with fellow Aggie Glen, two dogs Zack and Scooby, a cat Vern and an inherited gourami named Clarence. In her spare time, she can be found on Lake Travis on a sailboat with Glen, enjoys many forms of science fiction, and exploring Austin’s vast unique food offerings.  Dr. McClannahan is a member of the AVMA and Texas Veterinary Medical Association. 

Dr. Real Ransom - In Memoriam

Dr. Real Ransom graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He opened Great Oaks Animal Hospital at its original location in 1990. He and his wife, Cindy, were tragically killed in a private plane crash in September 2005. He remains a special part of Great Oaks Animal Hospital.
